Painter to be featured at Grass Valley’s Courtyard Suites

Submitted to The Prospector

Jenny Long is a painter that has made her home in Nevada City. Her works will be available to view through the month of May at Grass Valley’s Courtyard Suites, 210 N. Auburn Street in Grass Valley, according to a release.

Face and figure are evident in her work. She has held many jobs to support her life as an artist, including public library service. A love of reading, poetry and family life have bolstered her resolve to take a stand with beauty.

Self educated, her studies and conversations with other painters have served as her higher education.

She arrived in Nevada City as a teenager to attend a local Quaker High School, John Woolman. Supporting her family over the years through varied employment she kept her passion of art afloat. From drawing and sketching Long settled on painting in the late ‘70s and has been expressing her art through painting ever since.

In recent years she has traveled to study with other artists. Working with scenes and figures, Long describes her experience as “one of inside out, of a meeting and exposure.”

A free reception, including complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres, is scheduled at the Courtyard Suites from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
