“Fall into Art,” a cross-section of artists from Art Works Gallery in Grass Valley, has its opening reception 5 to 7 tonight at The Center for The Arts in Grass Valley.

The show, which runs through Sept. 17, is the result of a partnership among Nevada County Arts Council, The Center for the Arts and Art Works Gallery, said Eliza Tudor, Executive Director at NCArts.

“This three-way partnership provides the stimulus for a unique group of local professional artists to show their work beyond everyday contexts,” Tudor said.

“At Nevada County Arts Council, we enjoy harnessing opportunities to organize collective interests, and exhibiting together at the Center offers a way to show original work in a shared space for all of us to celebrate.”

Priscilla Roach, gallery president at Art Works, says the focus is on local artists.

“Art Works is unique in that it is only comprised of artists residing in Nevada County,”Roach said. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to partner with Nevada County Arts Council and Center for the Arts to showcase our artists in such a special setting.”

“Fall into Art” includes 20 artists from Art Works Gallery. Art Works itself is at the center of a vibrant visual and performing arts community, with 32 juried visual artists cooperating to present their work — whether ceramics, glass, jewelry, painting, woodturning, furniture, fiber art, metal, mosaic, mixed media, photography or sculpture.

Yvon Dockter, a “Fall into Art” participating artist from Art Works, says: “Although I thoroughly enjoy being a part of a co-operative gallery, I also find it exciting to team up with the Nevada County Arts Council for this important show at the Center. And, hopefully, this bodes well for more involvement and collaboration in the future as well.”

The following two-dimensional artists from Art Works will show their work at “Fall into Art:” Wendy Krill, David Mooney, Dori Greenbaum, Eileen Blodgett, Kathy Wronski, Katie Wolff, Lori Humphrey, Gail Lipson, David Wong, Martha Jones, Kris Johnson, Susan Lobb Porter, Liz Collins, and Bob Libutti.

Three-dimensional artists include Thomas Haddy, Priscilla Alden Roach, Yvon Dockter, Michael Larson, Jane Markham, and Don Augstein. More information about Art Works Gallery can be found at
