Local artists are included in an exhibit run by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.

The free exhibit, which features mixed media artwork made with discarded materials, runs through July 6 at SMUD gallery 6301 S St. (near 65th Street), Sacramento.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nevada City artist LeeAnn Brook is among the group in the show, which also includes Julie Bjorgum, Paul Dessau, Eileen Downes, Maureen Gilli, Cherie Hacker, Bethanie Humphreys and Virginia Ray.

Each of these artists accumulate, assemble and transform cast-off materials in their respective creative practices.

The Art in Public Places Program was established by the City and County of Sacramento to provide visual art experiences in public locations. The SMUD Art Gallery is a partnership between the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.
