Nevada City Ballet Academy is thrilled to present an original adaptation of the beloved classic, "The Jungle Book".

Studio director and choreographer Krista Pagan has created a ballet version of the story that highlights the skills and talents of her dedicated students.

The performance takes stage 7 p.m. June 21 at the Don Baggett Theatre at Nevada Union High School.

Audience members will delight in watching colorful birds, silly monkeys and elegant elephants dance on stage along with Indica Gaess (Mowgli), Amani Mudd (Baloo), and Kate Moore (Bagheera).

These characters and many others will all work together to avoid and overcome the ominous tiger Shere Kahn and her hyena sidekick Crocuta, played by Gracie Suenram and Caitlin McCormick. The performance promises to entertain with beautiful music, colorful costumes and a variety of ballet styles, including both classical and contemporary.

Nevada City Ballet Academy is in its 12th year of providing excellence in ballet training to children and teens in Nevada County. Pagan believes that proper training, provided in a kind and caring manner, allows each student to achieve their full potential as a dancer and also helps them to gain confidence, discipline and a sense of responsibility.
