MIM Home Tour this weekend

“Designs for Living” Home Tour draws upwards of 1,000 visitors each year; remarkable considering the size of our community.

For three decades, this major fundraiser for Music in the Mountains draws tour-goers from around the region.

So what is the Home Tour? Well, it’s a tour of six unique homes; this year all in Nevada City. In years past it’s been in South County, Grass Valley, Cedar Ridge and basically throughout Western Nevada County.

The homes are open for tour-goers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Docents are on hand at each of the homes to tell you about the special features, history, architectural style, etc., and lead you through a self-guided tour of the home.

New this year is a gourmet lunch prepared at Home No. 3 by Steve’s Mobile Catering. Steve will have the barbecue going with a tri-tip sandwich, or your choice of a chicken or veggie sandwich, with an array of toppings.

For only $10, enjoy your lunch on the sweeping lawn of this historic country farmhouse that sits on an entire acre on N. Pine St. in downtown Nevada City.

There will be a wine and beer bars at the lunch Home No. 3 and also at Home No. 6.

There will also be youth musicians at three of the homes, complimentary cookies at Home No. 4 and at Home No. 6, a silent auction with some incredible prizes.

Get tickets in advance online at http://www.MusicIntheMountains.org, or at the MIM office (530 Searls, Nevada City), or at The Union, Tri-Counties banks, both SPD stores, BriarPatch Co-op, or Bookseller. The cost is $25 in advance, or $30 at any of the six homes.
