Metaphysics 2.0 exhibition opens

Watercolor and oil paintings by Sierra College professor of art John Michael Keating are featured in an exhibition, Metaphysics 2.0, currently on view at The Center for the Arts, 314 West Main St. in downtown Grass Valley.

The Center’s gallery space is open during normal business hours, noon-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and during events.

An opening reception for the artist is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The exhibition includes 20 watercolors, oils and prints created by Keating during the past few years.

“These images reflect my interest in two worlds: the everyday world we inhabit in our waking hours and the dream world we enter when we sleep,” said Keating.

“What happens when those worlds overlap?”

Keating’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited in the U.S. and in Spain.

They appear in many private collections and have been purchased by Bank of America, San Francisco General Hospital, Marriott Inc. and the Toyota Motor Corporation.

His commissioned paintings hang in the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville, the Firehouse Restaurant in Sacramento and in the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City.
