Master Gardeners to host tomato tasting

Tomatoes will be in the spotlight at the Nevada County Master Gardener’s Saturday “Bite Me” Tomato Tasting and open house from 9:30 am to 1 p.m. The Master Gardeners will provide more than 50 varieties of tomatoes to try. Participants will be able to explore the vast variety of tomatoes that grow well in this area. Try one, try them all then vote for your favorite to help the Master Gardeners decide which variety might be sold at the plant sale next spring!

And, if tomatoes are not enough, two free workshops are also planned for the open house. “Vermicomposting” will be offered at 10:30 a.m., and “Cleaning, Maintaining and Sharpening Garden Tools” at 11:30 a.m.

The tasting and workshops will be at the Demonstration Garden on the NID grounds, 1036 W. Main St., Grass Valley. For more information call 530-273-0919
