Just imagine, next week, sliding into a spot at the Thanksgiving table, bringing wine that was bottled with a hand-signed, personalized label.

Nevada City Winery will give the opportunity to be winemaker for a day and experience the bottling process in the Barrel Room from noon to 6 p.m. today.

Winemaker Mark Foster has produced special barrels of a Nevada County Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from Lodi uniquely for this event.

In the Barrel Room, guests will first taste the wines, then fill, cork, foil and, finally, personalize labels before putting them on the bottle. The winery will supply all necessary materials.

Upstairs in the tasting room, Nevada City Winery will pour samples of their award-winning wines, including current Gold Medal winners Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel and Gewurztraminer.

Bob Mora and the Third Degree Blues Band will supply the music. Shaft’s Cheese Company, an artisan cheese producer in Roseville specializing in gold-mine-aged bleu cheeses, will offer cheese tasting and sales.

Antonio Ayesteran will provide three soups and crusty bread for lunch.

A $10-per-person entry fee includes all activities, soup, wine tasting at the Tasting Bar and entry to Bottle Your Own in the Barrel Room. Bottles of wine are an additional cost.

Nevada City Winery is located at 321 Spring St., downtown Nevada City, next to Miners Foundry. 530-265-9463.
