Local to hosts free CD release concert Thursday

Cat Girton will debut music from her sophomore CD release with a free concert Thursday at The Stonehouse in Nevada City. The current release titled “Local Vocals and Bizarre Guitar” features all original pop, rock and hip hop music with Girton on guitar, piano, synthesizer and vocals. She’ll be joined by her father, renowned guitarist John Girton, and by the vocal trio Harmonious Combustion featuring her mother Linda Girton.

Girton grew up in Grass Valley in a musical family. She recorded and self-released her first CD at the age of 13 and has continued to write perform at regional venues. She has worked as a tutor at Sierra College and fitness instructor at the South Yuba Club. This fall she’ll be studying bio-chemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

CDs will be available to purchase at the Thursday night concert with a special discount for concert attendees. Music begins at 7 p.m.
