Local artist featured on new regional phone book

Submitted image by Jerianne Van Dijk

Longtime artist and resident of Grass Valley Jerianne Van Dijk learned this month that her watercolor of the Yuba River has been selected as the cover for the new Surewest regional directory.

This is Van Dijk’s second cover for the phone directory. In addition, she served as a consultant and scout 10 years ago when Surewest Directories in Sacramento made the decision to use art on its cover instead of photos.

This year’s cover is “Sacred Play,” a river place sweet for reflection and play just above the footbridge at Highway 49, Van Dijk said.

“One of Nevada County’s favorite sanctuaries for heart and soul,” Van Dijk wrote about the Yuba River.

Her art has been published throughout the world. Van Dijk mostly paints in watercolor and is an illustrator and muralist. She is known for depicting scenes of the beautiful foothill scenery and towns. Her work is displayed at ArtWorks Gallery on Main Street in Grass Valley, or she can be found on the web at http:// jerianneillustration.com.
