A reception for a show of work by students of LeeAnn Brook’s 2016 Painting Workshop Retreats will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Nevada City Winery, 321 Spring St., Nevada City.

Featuring paintings that explore the various techniques taught in Brook’s workshops, this show covers a range of styles from representational to abstract and mixed media, including work from students who have followed Brook’s workshops for consecutive years. Several student drawings from Brook’s drawing class will also be featured for the first time.

“I never imagined that I would love teaching as much as I do when I started over 12 years ago,” Brook said.”I not only love inspiring students to reach their goals in becoming better painters, but I also enjoy encouraging and supporting them at any level. It’s extremely gratifying at the end of a year to see work produced in the class hanging in a final show, as this is the first time showing for many students.”
