The U.S. Constitution and all things related to American democracy are the themes of the League of Women of Western Nevada County’s first quiz fundraiser, to be held on May 3 at Gold Miners Inn in Grass Valley, according to a release.

Everyone is invited to participate as either contestants or audience as the League challenges teams of six to eight players with quiz questions. Anyone who would like to be on a team will be placed on one.

Fran Cole, League Programs Committee Co-Chair and an organizer of the event, advises participants to “Brush up on your constitutional knowledge, review your Supreme Court history, and remember key events, people, and places that have shaped our democracy.”

The evening will feature prizes and special guests — The Famous Marching Presidents of Nevada City in full costume — will create an ambiance of living history. Everyone is welcome to dress in early American costume.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the games begin at 7. Tickets for participants cost $50 per person, $300 for a table of six, or $400 for a table of eight. Audience tickets cost $25. Tickets include an abundant appetizer and dessert buffet, while bar service will be available no-host by the Gold Miners Inn.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Diamond Baker Mitchell LLP, Gold Miners Inn, The Union, and Yubnet.com.
