Lake Wildwood author to discuss new book at Tomes

Lake Wildwood resident and author Jean Humburg will be at Tomes in Grass Valley this weekend to discuss her new book, “Tarpaper Dreams,” and sign copies. The book is a coming of age story based on her life.

“This is the true story of an imaginative and courageous young girl who was born behind, and married above, her families’ furniture store,” according to the book.

Humberg has lived in Penn Valley for more than 20 years. She is the author of “Honk if You Like Canada Geese” and “Honk Again,” humorous essays on coping with life in general, according to the author.

“Tarpaper Dreams” is a coming of age tale of Humburg’s childhood in Brooklyn, her first generation immigrant experiences, her desire to escape her environment and life after Brooklyn with her husband.

The book is available at bookstores and online at Amazon and https:// Humburg will appear from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tomes, 671 Maltman Drive in Grass Valley.
