Jewish deli to open for one night only

Once again the Nevada County Jewish Community Center will create a genuine Jewish Deli from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nevada City Elks Club. The sixth annual event will feature everything enjoyed at famous Delis like Cantors, Nate and Al’s and the Carnegie. Featured will be kosher-style pastrami, corned beef and salami sandwiches sliced to order and served on genuine Jewish rye bread.

Also included are kosher hot dogs, kosher pickles, coleslaw, potato salad, soft drinks, coffee and New York cheesecake.

Added this year will be a vegetarian lasagna and salad. Pianist Joe Hammel will be playing hit songs all evening.

Advance tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children under 12 and those 3 and younger are free. They are available in advance at BriarPatch Co-op, The Book Seller and online at
