HAALo Herb Shoppe in downtown Nevada City is continuing classes this week for the beginner interested in home herbalism and learning more about the health benefits of herbs.
This introduction to the world of Western herbalism will give attendees the tools to be an effective and empowered home herbalist.
The class series can be taken separately or combined with other classes to further enhance the student’s interest and knowledge in home herbalism. Each class is taught by one of HAALo’s professional staff herbalists, Ayurvedic practitioners and/or flower essence therapists.
Offered this week is an Introduction to Homeopathy, or the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to the treatment of the sick. There is also a class on Creating a Homeopathic Apothecary for Winter where students will learn to use the top 10-15 remedies for common fall and winter ailments and illnesses.
Tickets are $35 per class or $30 for HAALo members per class. Space is limited to 18 students.

This class demystifies homeopathy and gives an introduction to homeopathy for those who want to begin using homeopathy at home. Topics we will cover are:

History and discovery of homeopathy
How homeopathic medicines are made
How do homeopathic medicines work
Which potencies and dosages to use
Advantages of using homeopathic remedies
How to properly take and store homeopathic remedies
Creating a Homeopathic Apothecary for Winter – Thursday, Sept. 29
In this class students will learn how to create a basic homeopathic kit to use for winter illnesses.
They will also learn to use the top 10-15 remedies for common fall and winter ailments such as fevers, colds, sore throats, coughs (Including whooping cough), earache and chickenpox. They will also cover dose, how to select potency and when to repeat or switch to a different remedy.
