Glitch hop comes to the Stonehouse

Uphoria presents Knowa Knowone, Kiran Notez, The OriGinALz and Tim Warren, on Friday at the Stonehouse in Nevada City. This 21 and older event begins at 8 p.m., with music starting at 9. Tickets are $15. This glitch hop group — with rumored founder, Knowa Knowone himself — is a tribute to the tribunals of electronic music.

Knowa Knowone is a Bay Area turntablist/producer and co-owner of the record label Street Ritual. His commanding stage presence is complimented with Kiran Notez, a North American Producer/DJ who swindles in dubstep, glitch hop, breaks and down tempo tunes. Bad boys of dub, Troy Prokopowich (PKA Subatomix) and Michael Derek Rivera (PKA Mumble D. Squintz), are The OriGinALz. The sound of Subatomix consists of a rich plethora of synthetic and organic sounds from hard hitting bass to more chilled out melodic dub – reaching into funky glitch hop and slower crunky club tunes. Subatomix has shared stages with such names as Love & Light, Mimosa, Marty Party, Dr. Dylon, Robotic Pirate Monkey, Sugar Pill, Guttstar, Jantsen & many more. His partner in crime in The OriginALz, Squintz, has opened for the likes of Griz, Love & Light, Smasheltooth, Dr. Dylon, Sugar Pill, Guttstar, and Jantsen. Rounding out the line-up is Tim Warren, aka Propulsion. The youngest at just age 15, he can hold his own on the stage, drawing on influences from classical and jazz, infused with his own style of glitchy-mid-tempo bass music. With vendors (Spirit of the age designs, Kayo anime Clothing and more), spirits and plenty of boom’n’bump, The Stonehouse is located at 107 Sacramento Street, in downtown Nevada City.
