Free family festival at Crocker for New Year’s

Sacramento — At last, a New Year’s celebration everyone can stay awake for. On Dec. 31, the Crocker Art Museum invites families to ring in the New Year by counting down to noon at the Noon Year’s Eve Family Festival.

At this fun and free celebration, all ages will learn about New Year festivities from around the world through live music and dance performances, featuring the Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association, Non Stop Bhangra, Agua de Beber Capoeira, the City of Sacramento Pipe Band, and the Bel Tempo Ringers. The celebration will also present New Year traditions from local cultural groups and hands-on creative activities. This program is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The museum will be open and free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the holiday Monday. Free admission and activities are sponsored by Target.

The Crocker Art Museum was the first art museum in the Western U.S. and is one of the leading art museums in California today. Established in 1885, the museum features one of the country’s finest collections of Californian art, exceptional holdings of master drawings, and a comprehensive collection of international ceramics, as well as European, Asian, African and Oceanic art.
