Fox Walkers to offer spring day program

Families looking for activities during spring break may be interested in enrolling their children ages 7-15 in the Four Elements Earth Education Fox Walkers Day Program at Bear Yuba Land Trust’s preserve, Burton Homestead that runs Monday through April 3.

Located on Lake Vera Road just a short drive from downtown Nevada City, Burton Homestead is used year round as a site for nature education.

During the five-day Fox Walkers Spring Break Program, students will learn fundamental wilderness skills while exploring the land. They will learn shelter building, fire making, cordage, knife safety, tracking and awareness skills, hunting ethics such as traps and quickie bows, native plant identification and uses and Native American perspectives and caretaking.

On Friday, students can sleep in a hut they built or under the stars during an overnight camp-out. Scot Woodland will lead the program along with instructors Grayson Coney and Andjru Werderitsch.
