‘Fall Colors Open Studios’ kickoff tonight

An open house and kickoff reception for the annual “Fall Colors Open Studios Tour” takes place starting at 6 tonight at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley.

The free reception will be the preview for the tour, which takes place over two weekends Oct. 8-9 and 15-16. The tour gives art lovers the opportunity to see where art is made by over 75 artists in 50 studios in western Nevada County.

Tonight’s recepetion will showcase a piece by each of the artists on the tour along with live entertainment on the Main Stage. Meet the staff, the board and join, renew or upgrade your membership that night for chance to win tickets to Center shows and other special incentives.



The entertainment schedule is:

7:15 p.m. – Performing Arts Guild




7:30 p.m. – Azure, singer and instrumentalist

7:45 p.m – Cassidy Joy (upcoming Simple Dreams show: The Songs of Linda Ronstadt) and special guest

8 p.m. – Dancing With Our Stars 2016 encore performances

Appetizers will be available, while supplies last, generously donated by: Summer Thyme’s, Diego’s, Emily’s Cakes and Catering, Way Yum Sushi and SPD markets.

Maps of the tour will be available, so attendees may plan their stops.

Print versions of the maps are also available at: Artworks Gallery, ASiF Studios, Briar Patch Co-op, GV & NC Chambers, The Alexander Gallery, SummerThymes, The Artist Workshop, LeeAnnBrook Fine Art and other locations.

On the tour, attendees may visit 50 studios and see work by more than 75 artists. The tour features painters, printmakers, photographers, ceramicists, illustrators, jewelers, designers, woodworkers and more. You will have the opportunity to meet the artists, view new work, and buy original art in a wide range of media & styles. See their workspace, watch live demonstrations, observe works in progress and learn about an art process from concept to completion.

There will be prizes for the most studios visited: Participants should have the artist at each studio they visit mark off their listing in the guide.

Visit five or more studios: entered to win a $25 gift certificate for a Center for the Arts show.

Visit 10 or more studios: entered to win a $50 gift certificate for a Center for the Arts show.

The person who visits the most studios will win a grand prize.

To be eligible for all prizes, bring marked Open Studios guide back to the Center during business hours: Monday-Saturday, Noon-5 p.m., by Oct. 31.
