Local singer Leta Gibney and accomplished musician Jacob Aginsky on keys will perform their new sound, Acid Lounge, from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Old 5Mile House, 18851 State Highway 20, Nevada City.

“We will play standards and more in a new way. This is the show not to miss. Bring your friends and family,” said Gibney.

Gibney and Aginsky blend traditional Jazz standards with a contemporary twist to create a New York or Paris feel. Gibney and Aginsky’s relaxing brand of Acid Lounge has a chill vibe with an underground club tone mixing in lush Bossa Nova textures reminiscent of Thievery Corporation and at times a touch of Portishead.

The latest CD “A New Order” will be available. Years in the making, the newest CD highlights the duo’s unique sound — combining different genres to create a new one. Gibney and Aginsky first came together for the band Leta’s Blues.

“Jacob mixes in beats and bass lines building up the tapestry with his keys for each song. Each time it is a different experience — new and original — like Jazz was born to be,” said Gibney.

Gibney draws influences from old Blues and Jazz like Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald and weaves in her passion for Flamenco. Aginsky studied with Herbie Hancock and toured with Thievery Corporation and Chris Isaak. He worked with pop stars like Zap Mama, Pink, Nicki Minaj and Tom Waits. He uses a keyboard, mini keyboard and a laptop to add additional beats.
