Nevada City Rotary is hosting its 2015 Adventures & Wine Auction — “A Party with a Purpose,” on Friday, Oct.23 at Miners Foundry Cultural Center, Nevada City.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with music by Dream & the Dreamer and auction bidding.

The event benefits the Nevada City Rotary Club’s “Focus on Youth” programs and scholarships.

“Young people are the focus of our community efforts and it’s rewarding to hear our youth personally share how our endeavors have impacted their lives,” says Dave Bunje, President, Nevada City Rotary Club.

The silent and live auctions feature resort packages, art, jewelry, professional services, household goods, and unforgettable experiences donated by members of the Nevada City Rotary Club and the local business community.

Among the Rotary programs, the Drew Reynolds Scholarship is awarded each year to a young parent attending Sierra College.

Other renewable scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who are heading on to college or vocational programs.

Each year, Nevada City Rotary sponsors incoming high school seniors to attend a week at Rotary Youth Leadership Camp and eight graders at Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership Experience.

One RYLA student this year wrote “It has been an experience that will make colossal waves in my life . . .”

The event features wine, food and charitable auctioneering.

Auctioneers Jay Cooper and Allison Kirk will keep the event moving.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $20 at the door.

Ticket price includes dessert and a no-host bar, raffles, access to bidding the live and silent auctions.

A variety of wines, brews and food prepared by local vendors will be available for purchase.

Tickets are available at Harmony Books, The Bookseller, Briar Patch or from Nevada City Rotarians.
