More than 1,100 dogs will converge on Nevada County Fairgrounds today and Sunday for the Gold Country Kennel Club annual AKC licensed all-breed dog shows. The dogs will compete both days for the coveted Best in Show trophy and High in Trial in Obedience and Rally.

“We are delighted to welcome spectators back to the Gold Country Kennel Club dog shows,” said Linda Emanuel, spokesperson for GCKC. “Not only is this a fun activity for families, but it is the perfect place to talk to breed experts about topics such as training, grooming and the right breed for your lifestyle. AKC dog shows are also a great place to start your search for a responsible breeder.”

In addition to watching thousands of dogs in the show ring, visitors will also be able to pick up a treat or toy for their dog at home from one of the vendor booths, take the Canine Good Citizen test, enjoy police dog and freestyle dancing demonstrations, and much more.

General admission is free. Visitors can find out what time their favorite breed will be showing at http://ch.infodog.com/jps/565/jpg565.pdf (Saturday) and http://ch.infodog.com/jps/947/jpg947.pdf (Sunday).
