David Wong: ‘Visions and Stories of the World Through My Lens’

Submitted to Prospector

David Wong and his fine art photography is October’s featured artist at Nevada City Winery.

This exhibit features photographs from travels and seven photography workshops that Wong has given in China, France, Italy, and Ireland. His aim is to not only feature images that portray the beauty of the countries represented, but also to tell a visual story that is quintessential to the life and culture of these countries.

As a fine art photographer with diverse photographic interests, the call to specialize and narrow his fields of photography is strong in the art world but truthfully, Wong enjoys all types of photography.

“Regardless of whether photographing a landscape, a sporting event, or a portrait, creating photography that is artful is essential to me.”

A photographic element in his work is simplicity of vision and storytelling. Starting with the essence of the story and building the photograph from there. Distilling the vision of a photograph to its core elements is important to his work. Wong seeks to create a sense of “Zen,” balance, and depth in my imagery.

The exhibit will be up Oct. 2-28. An opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, with light bites and live music by David Castaneda, playing Latin guitar.

Nevada City Winery is located at 321 Spring St. in downtown Nevada City and open daily at noon with extended hours Friday and Saturday. Visit http://www.ncwinery.com and http://www.photographybydavidwong.com for information.
