A Revolution in Aesthetics, “The Dance Legacy of Isadora Duncan,” will be performed from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center, 410 South Church St., Grass Valley.

Lois Flood will perform the historical dances of Isadora Duncan in show, a benefit for the Center.

Trudy Tyrelle will narrate the dance with quotes from Duncan..

Isadora Duncan, (1877-1927), is the mother of modern dance.

She created a classical dance movement inspired by nature, classical music and Greek myth.

Duncan was also a California native daughter and was in favor of women’s rights. She elevated women’s rightful place in the world of Art.

Duncan’s choregoraphy includes lyrical, dramatic and revolutionary dances.

“To awaken human emotion is the highest level of Art,” Duncan said.

Duncan selected music by composers such as Chopin, Schubert and Gluck to accompany her choreography.

There will be questions answered at the end of the program.

The event is free; donations will be accepted.
