Maxima Kahn, a local poet, dancer and musician, is offering three creativity classes for adults starting next week.

“The Artist’s Way,” which is offered as a telecourse, starts Feb. 9.

The other two classes are in-person creative writing workshops offered in downtown Grass Valley:

“Romancing the Muse,” a creative writing workshop for writers of all genres.

“Openings: 12 Gates to Poetic Inspiration,” a poetry writing workshop.

Class descriptions are:

“The Artist’s Way” is a 12-week course based on the bestselling book by Julia Cameron.

“This course is about uncovering and recovering your creativity, imagination, passion and joy, so that you can create the life your heart dreams of,” Kahn says, “It is about making time for what you love, what brings you joy. It is a profound journey of transformation and inner freedom that has brought huge, life-changing rewards to thousands of people.”

The course has attracted creative people of all kinds, from professional artists to people just wanting to be more creative, from dancers, potters, filmmakers and writers, to musicians, photographers, weavers and gardeners, to name just a few of the passions people pursue or uncover during the course.

“This is not a course that teaches a particular art form, rather it teaches you how to live a creative, fulfilling life,” she adds.

“Romancing the Muse” is a creative writing workshop for writers of all genres and all levels of experience.

Kahn says she teaches a method she has developed for helping writers to move past writer’s block, find their inspiration, write with ease and cultivate their authentic voice — while learning about the art and craft of creating compelling writing.

A half-day introductory workshop and also an eight-week course are both offered.

The half-day workshop takes place in Grass Valley 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 7. The eight-week course meets weekly 4 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 11. To find out more, visit http://www.brilliantplayground.com/romancing-the-muse

“Openings: 12 Gates to Poetic Inspiration,” is a poetry writing workshop that offers an exploration of all of the major facets of the poetic art, such as metaphor, persona, and form, as well as introducing a wide variety of subjects for poetic inspiration and a diverse selection of poems from many poets.

Poets will learn how to hone their poetic craft, receive feedback on their poems and guidance on how to revise them, while learning about the art and craft of poetry in a lively format. To learn more, visit http://www.brilliantplayground.com/openings.
