Celtic inspired music Thursday in Nevada City

San Francisco’s “A Thousand Years at Sea” will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Old 5Mile House. The young trio plays a very American kind of Celtic sound with overtones of jazz and rock-and-roll. Fiddlers Ethan Lewis and Colin Cotter are both frequent teachers at Alasdair Fraser’s Sierra Fiddle Camp. Guitarist, fiddler, and songwriter Colin Cotter has played gigs everywhere from San Francisco to New York City and Scotland, and lists as his influences an array of sources ranging from Dylan and Springsteen to the sounds of Scandinavia and Latin America. Their Thursday performance will be wide-ranging in its material, with a special emphasis on their Celtic material, both traditional and original. All ages are welcome.
