Bent Metal releases its first Zinfandel

The Zin is in, according to Bent Metal Winery.

The Grass Valley winery is releasing its first Zinfandel this weekend with events at its McCourtney Road vineyard.

The new varietal is “a big velvety Zin with all of the Zinfandel character that we love,” according to Bent Metal owners Judy and Scott Brown.

The winery will be open today and tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m. for a ‘BOWZR’ weekend — or barrel ornamentation with Zinfandel release.

Judy Brown said that in honor of the new 2011 Zinfandel, they will have a wine barrel on site for visitors to adorn with various tiles, glass, nuts, bolts, marbles and whatever else is around to create a one-of-a-kind mosaic barrel.

Bent Metal Winery is located at 14364 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley.
