Bellizzi brings classical guitar to historic Powell House

Classical guitarist/composer Jamey Bellizzi will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the historic Powell House in Nevada City.

Bellizzi will perform his recent compositions for the guitar, “The Poets Dream” inspired by a Maxfield Parrish painting, and “The Hand of Man” after a visit to the ancient caves in Cantabria, Spain. The concert will also feature works by The Brazilian guitarist Dilermando Reis popular in the 1950s. Spanish music by Sor and Albeniz will be performed as well.

Admission is $20. The Powell House, 203 S. Pine St., is an intimate venue with limited seating and is very well suited for the classical guitar.

Bellizzi has composed over 40 works for the classical guitar. His compositions have been selected by the Guitar Foundation of America for publication. He is a frequent contributor to Soundboard Magazine. Bellizzi has many titles published by Mel Bay publications. He recently performed for the Sacramento Guitar Society.

Bellizzi teaches classical guitar in Nevada City and his most recent solo recording, “El Delirio” — Romantic Music of Spain and Latin America — is available worldwide.
