ASiF hosts open house

This Saturday the Artists’ Studio in the Foothills (ASiF) invites the public to share a cup of holiday cheer and to see, celebrate and experience fine art in the making. This will be a day filled with demonstrations by fine-art jewelry makers, painters, sculptors, potters and more. ASiF teachers will offer fun interactive art gift-making activities for the entire family. Hot spiced cider and treats will be served throughout the day, and the gallery will feature it’s ever-changing Smallworks in the Foothills Holiday Show.

At an ASiF Open House, there’s always something entirely new and creative in store for visitors. This holiday season, ASiF is taking it to new heights, inviting a group of fine art jewelry artists to bring their treasure chests of jewels for an incredible art-jewelry exhibit and a series of inspiring metal-arts demonstrations.

Featured fine art jewelry artists Cabrina Channing, Kathy Frey, Suzanne Himmler, Michelle Reynolds and Heather Scott will exhibit their newest creations and set up shop for the day to demonstrate some fascinating jewelry making techniques, while offering custom jewelry gift orders to a few customers.

ASiF’s resident studios and three community classrooms will be abuzz with demonstrations in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, mosaics and more. Interactive art gift-making activities will include, ceramic ornament making, hand-printed paper ornaments, gift card/gift wrap making and more.

The Smallworks in the Foothills Holiday Show continues as well. This is ASiF’s fifth Smallworks show. An ever-changing exhibit selling works off the wall daily. Many agree this is ASiF’s best show of the year, bringing together the highest quality local artists and more art in a shared thematic show at a single location than any other local venue in Nevada County history.

The walls are filled with hundreds of original artworks by more than 80 local artists, the holiday tree is adorned with handmade ornaments of fused glass, mosaics and other lovely hand made works.

For those who aren’t quite sure which original Smallwork to choose for that very special gift, people can now purchase an ASiF gift card. Gift cards can be used for art purchases in the gallery and for any of ASiF’s art classes.

The ASiF Holiday Open House and Trunk Show is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday. ASiF is located at 940 Idaho Maryland Road, in Grass Valley. For information go to http://www.asifstudios.com or call (530) 274-7000.
