Artist reception today for new exhibit in Grass Valley

Smith Vineyard Tasting Room and Gallery will present an exhibit of new paintings by Margie Miller through Dec. 31. There will be an artist reception from 4 to 7 p.m. today with music by Brian Dougherty.

The exhibit, “Windows,” features large format landscapes as seen through open ‘windows.’

A graduate from the University of California, Davis art department, Miller studied under renowned artists Wayne Thiebaud and William T. Wiley. Their bold use of color and whimsy has been an important influence in her work, Miller said.

Miller is a longtime art educator, a frequent presenter at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and at workshops, such as the recent High Sierra Painting Workshop in Graeagle.

The exhibit will be available to view during regular tasting room hours, from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The tasting room is located at 142 Mill St. in Grass Valley.
