Armchair Trek to explore Mars

The Bear Yuba Land Trust will offer an Armchair Trek on the Mars Science Laboratory Mission and the Curiosity Rover from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 7 at the Madelyn Helling Library Community Room.

Scientist Robert Haberle from NASA’s Mars Climate Modeling Group will give an overview of the Mars Science Laboratory Mission and the Curiosity Rover. Haberle will outline the goals and objectives of the mission, lessons gained and implications for the planet’s climate. He will also examine the question – Did Mars ever harbor life?

This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of NASA’s own about orbitally-forced climate changes, surface-atmosphere interactions and the present seasonal cycles of water, dust, and carbon dioxide — all potentially relevant topics to Earth’s future. There is a suggested donation of $10-15 for this event. For more information, visit or call Melony Vance at 272-599, ext. 200.
