Ananda celebrates fall with 2nd annual Harvest Festival

It’s starting to feel like fall, and with that change in the air, Halloween and the harvest season are soon upon us. Ananda’s second annual Harvest Festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Featuring locally grown produce, lots of homemade treats, activities for kids, plus arts and crafts booths, it’s an old-fashioned fun event for the entire family. And don’t forget the free popcorn!

Last year’s inaugural festival was a great success with all comers enjoying a warm, festive autumn day with the pleasing sounds of live music and children’s laughter permeating the air. The goat petting zoo and corn husk doll making were great favorites with the children — and adults as well. And the blacksmith demonstration was truly a scene pulled right out of Nevada County’s past.

This family-friendly, alcohol-free event is Saturday on The Green at Ananda Village, about 17 miles outside Nevada City via Highway 49 and Tyler Foote Rd. For directions and information, please go to Ananda’s First Business Co-op website at http://www.firstbusinesscoop.com.
