3rd annual Great Prospector Beer Run is Sunday

The Third Annual Great Prospector Beer Run returns to the Ol’ Republic Brewery parking lot on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Race-day registration and check-in opens at 9 a.m, and the race starts at 11 a.m.

This “5k-ish” run/walk/whatever is all for fun and camaraderie. Costumes, dogs on leashes and families are encouraged.

At the finish line, everyone will receive a ticket for a free lunch (hamburger, vegi burger or bratwurst lunch). If you’re over 21, you’ll get a free beer from ol’ Republic Brewery and a logo pint glass.

If you’re under 21, you get a free root beer (under 21 pricing is $15).

Under the big white tent, hang out and dance to some festive Oktoberfest tunes, provided by Mountain Event Productions DJ services.

Prizes will be awarded for best costume, best group costumes, best pet costume and more.

Event Sponsor Fit Culture Studio will lead the group in Dynamic Warm Ups at 10:40 a.m., before the race begins.

Trkac is Course Sponsor, and Stifel/KNN Wealth Management and Ol’ Republic Brewery are general event sponsors.

Pleasant Valley Vet will be providing a Pet Cooling Station for pets.

The Sierra Trailblazers Running Club are event partners and will receive a portion of the proceeds from this event.

Advance registration (until Oct. 2) is $25 for age 21 and over, $15 under 21, and the registration form is online at http://www.theunion.com/beerrun.

If you’d rather have a hard-copy registration form, come in to The Union office at 464 Sutton Way, Grass Valley, or call 530-477-4241.

Registration on race day is $30 adults, $20 under 21.
