Vince Alcantar: A United Nations centered world order
June 16, 2017
Reading the United Nations Charter, especially at this time of a sided and divided world, I find the Charter a refreshing possibility, if it is followed, for a central and neutral path to world peace, especially for our children. Some excerpts follow:
"We the peoples of the United Nations determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war … and to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small … to practice tolerance and live together in peace … and to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security … that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest … have resolved to combine our efforts to accomplish these aims."
