Government shutdown deplorable

No matter what side of the issue you are on, shutting down the government in not what we, the people, pay you to do.

My wife and I happen to be in Washington, D.C., this week to enjoy our Capitol and all it's glory. Our minor inconvenience of not being able to visit some of the sites due to your vote is just that — a minor inconvenience.

Your vote to shut down the government is deplorable. When people lose their paychecks, it's not like losing money in the stock market, where there are opportunities to regain your losses. It's not like losing a farm subsidy/government handout. You lose your income, period. Our country's bills must be paid just like your bills or mine. Unless of course, you are among the millions who lose their only source of income. I am sure you are very proud of your vote and the ideals that support it.

At the heart of it is the individual mandate/Obamacare/affordable healthcare, an idea that in 1989 came out of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

Think about it. You just voted to shut down the government based on an ideal that the conservatives came up with.

Aren't you proud of what you have done?

You need to stand face to face with the constituents in your district who will lose benefits and pay checks because of your vote. Remember, you were elected to represent all the people, not just those who support your views with campaign donations if you vote their way.

Look at the effect of your vote. See the big picture. Right now, you can't see the forest for the trees.
