Christmas Child — for those who may not have Christmas otherwise
November 25, 2013
This is the third consecutive year for Christmas Child. Pastor Sandra Chipchase of Word-A-Live! Church pioneered Christmas Child in 2011 and has a vision for expansion by adding something new to this celebration each year — adding an "All Community Christmas Carols" event along with the Christmas Child's "Kidz Christmas" party.
The heart of Christmas Child is to make a difference by reaching out and touching children in Nevada County. Christmas Child has a unique way of doing this. The first thing is finding families in the community whose children will not have much for Christmas this year. The names of the children and ages are submitted along with what they want for Christmas. Ages are from 6 months to 18 years. Donations have been received from supporters in her congregation as well as the community.
The shopping lists are made up, and the shoppers go to town buying those special gifts for each child. Then, the big party. A big Christmas party with food, decorations, Christmas carols and receiving their gifts the Friday before Christmas. This year, we are looking forward to reaching more kids for this fabulous party. We are looking for the children who would not have a Christmas otherwise.
Financial donations are appreciated as well as helpers to help organize and serve. Please call 530-432-9155 or send donations to: Word-A-Live! Church, "Christmas Child," P.O. Box 1477 Penn Valley, CA 95946.
