AB 1266 won’t solve the problem of peer cruelty
September 26, 2013
AB 1266 will not help children who are certain of or questioning their sexual identity to be safe from bullying. I believe that if a boy or girl claims to identify more with the opposite sex (transgendered), and they are allowed to shower, dress or play sports as the opposite sex, they will be harassed and bullied more than they would otherwise.
I believe males in our society are harassed and bullied for appearing to have female characteristics. Therefore, a boy would not “pretend” to be “girlish” to get into a girls’ locker room or be on a girls’ sports team. This boy would be harassed and bullied by other males for appearing feminine.
I believe girls in our society are harassed for appearing to have male characteristics. A female would not “pretend” to be “boyish” to participate on a boys sports team or change clothes in a boys locker room because she would be harassed, bullied and likely victimized by males.
We do not need to use an alarmist approach to stop this bill from passing.
It simply won’t solve the problem of cruelty among children or adults.
