Pair of alleged pot dealers busted while sampling wares

A 19-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested on a number of drug charges at Western Gateway park after they were spotted reportedly sampling the marijuana they had for sale.

A Nevada County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the park at about 12:20 p.m., and a witness called 911 to report two people in a van smoking marijuana.

As the deputy approached the van, which was in the parking lot near the bathrooms, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana, said Sheriff’s Lt, Steve Tripp.

A search of the van reportedly uncovered $558 in cash, a scale and approximately 150 grams of marijuana in packages for sale. Cell phone text also indicated recent sales activity, Tripp said.

The adult, identified as Lamar Ray Brown, 19, of Penn Valley, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, possessing marijuana and possession for sale, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was being held in county jail in lieu of $11,500 bail.

The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of possession and cultivation of marijuana, as well as possession of hash for sale, Tripp said.

Speeder arrested on meth charges

A woman who reportedly was speeding on Squirrel Creek Road at 1 a.m. Friday ended up in jail after a sheriff’s deputy reportedly found methamphetamine in her car.

The deputy was on patrol when he reportedly saw Jennifer Jean Skrocki, 35, driving about 40 mph in a 25 mph zone near Dixon Road.

Skrocki admitted to having a marijuana pipe but denied having any contraband, Tripp said.

She reportedly consented to a search of her vehicle, and the deputy located a meth pipe and about 1 to 1.5 grams of meth, according to Tripp.

Skrocki was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing and transporting a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia. She was being held in lieu of $36,000 bail.
