Two men arrested in related DUI incidents

California Highway Patrol officers ended up arresting two men in separate but related drunken-driving incidents Thursday night, after one of the men overturned his vehicle and the other drove around emergency personnel at the accident scene.

CHP officers had responded to the scene of the accident on Highway 174 in the Chicago Park area at just after 11 p.m., according to Officer Greg Tassone.

Christian Lee Baker, 38, of Colfax was driving southbound on Highway 174 when he lost control of his vehicle in a curving area of the road south of Meyer Road, Tassone said in a press release.

Baker’s Acura Integra went off the roadway at about 10:15 p.m. and overturned. Baker sustained minor injuries, but extricated himself from the vehicle, Tassone said. Personnel from the Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Department and Sierra Nevada Ambulance responded, and traffic lanes were partially closed for 10 minutes while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Baker was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

While one-way traffic controls were in effect, a man identified as Kyle Clinton Love allegedly failed to stop and drove around fire department personnel holding a large stop sign. Love then drove into the oncoming lane, Tassone said.

He was intercepted by a CHP officer on foot and allegedly was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, booked and released on $1,404 bail.
