We were residents of Nevada City and Grass Valley for some 30 years. We now live in Vacaville near family but we still keep up with our “home” town.
I thought I would share this since it happened to me.
I got excited this morning to hear the value of gold is tumbling down and hope it hits rock bottom. First because it means the value of our dollar is going up just as fast but more so because it will put an end to honest people’s sad loss.
As most folks will remember, it started small in people’s home having a “gold” party, somewhat like a Tupperware Party, and escalated as the needy, greedy, thieves and crooks saw a legal way to rob and steal from the public. Most disgusting is our own government approved and jumped on board as well.
After a few years, the media began to cover how the gold was melted down immediately, leaving no proof of ownership to the millions of people’s gold jewelry.
I, in the beginning, wondered if there were any records and follow-up to make sure they were legally purchased before melted down to extract the gold or precious stones. It seemed like a license for thieves to rob people’s homes.
This all came to light about four years ago when I discovered all my rings were taken from the ring box. I didn’t have many, but the ones I did have were very seldom off my fingers as each one was attached to a lovely memory. They were off this time waiting to get a space saver in them at the jewelry store due to weight loss. The next day there was nothing in the box. Gone … stolen by someone that got into our home somehow.
The police were called, but the young lady only took a description and told me there was probably nothing they could do. I was not surprised.
The thieves of course will never be found, but the buyers of gold deserve to hit rock bottom. Legal robbery and the government gave it the seal of approval.
