Local wildlife needs you

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is looking for dedicated volunteers who love animals. The organization rescues many orphaned and injured birds and mammals every year, and we need more humans to help care for them. You could work with cute baby raccoons, sweet songbirds, beneficial bats or magnificent birds of prey. In addition to people who provide hands-on care to the animals, we also need people willing to transport, work at our Intake Center or help raise funds.

If you are interested in a very rewarding volunteer career, come to the organiazation’s annual recruitment March 2 at Grass Valley Methodist Church, 236 S. Church St., Grass Valley. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be guest speakers and team leaders who will talk about their areas of expertise (small mammals, songbirds, etc.), lots of information about wildlife care, plus food, merchandise, a raffle and our animal educational ambassadors. The $25 registration fee includes snacks, beverages, lunch and one raffle ticket. For information or to preregister, contact Laurel at 530-277-2121 or Janet at 530-271-3108 or birdlover1@stardustweb.net.
