A Browns Valley man agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of being an accessory after the fact after being arrested in May during an undercover sting operation.
Nicholas Salvator Mauceli, 28, had been contacted by a member of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force, who had answered a classified ad in a pot magazine from a man looking to buy 10 pounds of indoor marijuana.
The deputy allegedly eventually received a text from Mauceli, who was trying to negotiate a purchase, and the two eventually agreed to meet after Mauceli allegedly agreed to buy 10 pounds of marijuana for $2,200
The two met and negotiated, and a traffic stop was then initiated after the transaction.
Mauceli allegedly was seen throwing a small amount of marijuana out of his vehicle prior to the traffic stop, and deputies allegedly found $27,000 in cash in the vehicle.
Mauceli had been charged with transportation of a controlled substance and attempted possession of marijuana for sale.
He did have two separate recommendations for medical marijuana, however, said Nevada County Deputy District Attorney Jim Phillips.
In Nevada County Superior Court Thursday afternoon, Mauceli took the plea agreement in return for three years probation and credit for time served.
