Fire prevention opportunity ignored

Fire prevention opportunity ignored

If someone sets off fireworks in the road next to your house at 2 a.m. in the morning and you live in a rural area, do not expect 911 to send anyone out to investigate or send a fire truck to make sure there is no fire.

The only thing 911 cares about is, “Is there a fire?” It doesn’t matter that the dry grass is knee deep across the road or that the fireworks where shooting six to eight feet in the air. Luckily it didn’t start a fire. Luckily.
