President Johnson said, “We were attacked (in the Gulf of Tonkin),” President Nixon was known for “I am not a crook,” Bush Sr. for “Read my lips — no new taxes” and President Clinton for “I did not have sex with that woman … Miss Lewinski.”
Now the challenge: Which of the following will be the quote that President Obama will be remembered by?
“I will have the most transparent administration in history.”
“The stimulus will fund shovel-ready jobs.”
“I am focused like a laser on creating jobs.”
“You didn’t build that!”
“It’s not my red line — it is the world’s red line.”
“There is no spying on Americans; we don’t have a domestic spying program.”
“You can keep your family doctor.”
“I knew nothing about ‘Fast and Furious’ (gunrunning to Mexican drug cartels).”
“I knew nothing about IRS targeting conservative groups.”
“I knew nothing about what happened in Benghazi” and “It was a spontaneous riot about a movie.”
A nominee for 2014 was taken from The Hill web page on Jan. 18: “President Obama vowed to use his executive authority to usher in a “Year of Action” — “Where Congress isn’t acting, I’ll act on my own.”
Year of action? What were the last five years?
Acting on his own? This is the job title of a tyrant, not a U.S. president.
It is clear this man plans to sidestep what he believes to be an outdated document and to see his dream of the Utopian States of America by any means possible.
Soon I expect him to change the name of the District of Columbia to the District of Caracas and start giving speeches from the second floor of the White House, looking out over Pennsylvania Avenue, like a true dictator!
Remember my quote for 2014: “Now is the time. Now is the time to say no more! Now is the time to shine the light in to the dark and secretive corners of the government and make the cockroaches run for cover.”
