Arrest made in connection with stolen vehicle

A Nevada City woman was arrested early Saturday morning after reportedly being found in possession of property from a stolen vehicle.

A Nevada City Police officer saw a vehicle driving around Nevada City that reportedly pulled over at least once when the driver spotted him, said Grass Valley Police Officer Colin Nelson.

The driver eventually pulled into a gas station on the 300 block of Sacramento Street a little before 5:15 a.m. and was contacted by the officer, agreeing to a consensual search of the vehicle, Nelson said.

Grass Valley Police officers assisted in the search, which reportedly uncovered items linked to a vehicle that had been reported as stolen locally. That vehicle was recovered off Granholm Lane and the theft was linked to the driver, Jamie Diane Hannahs, 39, Nelson said.

Hannahs was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, being in possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance, as well as on outstanding warrants. She was being held in Wayne Brown Correctional Facility without bail.

A passenger in the car, Heather Marie Hood, 36, was arrested for two outstanding warrants and was being held without bail.

A warrant had been issued for Hannahs’ arrest in November, stemming from a February 2012 arrest after she was spotted driving a stolen vehicle. Hannahs reportedly was found by Grass Valley Police officers at a storage unit where she had been transferring items from the vehicle into storage.

She was charged with vehicle theft, being in possession of stolen property and possessing a switchblade knife and had pleaded no contest to vehicle theft.
