Deputies arrest woman after reported disturbance

A woman was arrested on a number of outstanding warrants after Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disturbance Friday morning on Brooks Road.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block after a caller reported a verbal fight that had been going of for a half-hour, followed by approximately six gunshots, according to dispatch reports.

They found a woman identified as Heather Eilene Norton, 30, hiding in the back area of a barn, said Sheriff Keith Royal.

Norton — even though she was known to the deputies — initially provided a false name and date of birth, Royal said. She then gave her real name and admitted she had warrants, he added.

Norton was found to have four misdemeanor and one felony warrant. She also was taken into custody on suspicion of providing a false ID, as well as possessing drug paraphernalia after she reportedly was found to have a meth pipe in her bra.

She was booked and released on $23,650 bail.
