Because you asked, Mr. Boardman

As a Nevada Union teacher and the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) adviser, I feel compelled to respond to Mr. Boardman’s letter that suggests that being a Nevada Union valedictorian means nothing.

These 54 students have worked hard throughout their high-school careers, and every one of them has accomplished many personal achievements.

Aside from grueling class work, these students are scholar athletes and active members of student government and clubs such as Interact and Key Club, which exist to perform community service. Each student fulfilled the district’s Senior Project graduation requirement, all while taking ACT, SAT, and AP tests and dealing with the tedious college application process. The proof Mr. Boardman most wants, however, is where these valedictorians will go next year. I think the following list will suffice:

Navleen Gill, University of California, Berkeley
