This letter is to the woman in the large tan cloak who abruptly left the Food and Farm Conference workshop called “Food Rights and Food Freedom” on Sunday afternoon.
It was quite obvious that you were upset with what Chuck Shea was saying about keeping the Food Police out of our kitchens. When you came back into the room and made a face at Chuck Shea, you were being extremely rude to him and also disrespectful to all of us in the room.
When you came back into the room a second time, seven minutes before our time was up, to tell us it was time for us to leave, you were beyond rude.
We come to these conferences to listen to the many diverse opinions presented. This is how we gain knowledge so that we can make informed decisions. I certainly do not agree with everything that I heard, but I courteously listened to what was being presented, and applauded when the presentation was over.
If you only want to hear what you already believe, don’t waste your time, or ours, just don’t come.
I noticed that you were also in the “Wonders of Aquaponics” workshop that followed the “Food Rights and Food Freedom” workshop.
A question was raised about the legal use of the lettuce and the fish being raised this way. Although no one questioned the legality of raising the lettuce for the school cafeteria, everyone pussyfooted around the legality of consuming the fish without governmental approval.
It is just such excessive rules and regulations that are helping to destroy our free our economy, and that was Chuck Shea’s point; keep the Food Police out of our kitchens!
