Driver, dog survive plunge off bridge

A San Juan Ridge man is suspected to have been driving under the influence when he lost control of his truck and drove off a bridge at Shady Creek Crossing Friday night. William Scott, 27, was driving a 1981 Ford F150 pickup truck when he left the road at about 6 p.m. and “took out the upstream guard rail” at the crossing, said North San Juan Fire Assistant Chief Boyd Johnson. The truck landed upside down about 20 feet below in the creekbed, Johnson said, adding that Scott was lucky that the cab did not end up in the water. …
