‘Blithe Spirit’ opens  in Lake Wildwood

Lake Wildwood Theatre announces the opening of “Blithe Spirit” today (Nov. 1) at the Cedar Room in the LWW Clubhouse.

With an engaging cast drawn from the gated community’s talent, this witty comedy from the pen of the famous Noël Coward comes to life on stage.

The story is of a wealthy novelist, Charles Condomine (Ward Thompson), and his wife, Ruth (Carolyn Winters), who are hosting a dinner party and a séance as the play opens. Charles is anxious to glean material on the occult for his next novel and to that end has invited the local medium, Madame Arcati (Trudy Tyrrell), to “summon the spirits.”

The Condomines and their guests, the Bradmans (Bill Trzeciak and Betsy Hatten), do not believe for one minute that Madame Arcati is genuine and are participating in the séance out of curiosity. Therefore, Charles is thunderstruck when he discovers that the ghost of his first wife, Elvira (Merilee Imamoto), has materialized in front of him.

“Blithe Spirit” opens at 7 p.m. and has only seven performances in total. It runs at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 1 and 8, 8 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 2 and 9, and Saturdays, Nov. 3 and 10, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.

Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at the administration office during regular business hours. There are no reserved seats for this show.

The doors will open 30 minutes before curtain. For those who don’t live in LWW and would like to attend, please call Merilee at (530) 432-3678. Everyone is welcome to attend.
